These days, digital marketing are buzzwords that are synonymous with business growth. But what exactly does it mean?
In a nutshell, digital marketing is an umbrella term for all the effort a business goes to in order to promote its brand, products or services online. This can include websites and blog posts, the use of social media (eg Facebook, Instagram, etc), email and search engines, such as Google.
And with Australian online spending hitting around $32 billion last year, what business wouldn’t want a piece of that juicy pie? Here are 3 ways you can improve your digital marketing:
1. Update your website regularly
If you’re searching for a local product or service provider, how do you go about it? Chances are you’d use a search engine such as Google, Bing or Yahoo to conduct your research. If you want to appear in your prospective customers’ search engine results, it’s imperative that you keep your website updated on a regular basis. If not, the Google bots will simply push your business page down the page rankings. People generally only check out the first 1-2 pages of their search results, so if you’re not there, you’re essentially invisible. Websites can be kept up-to-date by adding blog posts, testimonials, news and projects on a regular basis.
2. Get onto social media, stat
These days, being on social media is a no-brainer for businesses. Customers expect you to be fully active on at least one platform. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Pinterest & YouTube are a great way to engage with your potential clients. Let them know what you’re up to with regular posts, and create your own little community.
3. Use keywords in all your posts
Essentially, if you use relevant keywords in your web posts then you’ll improve your ranking in the search engines. Also known as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), you’ll want to choose keywords that your prospective clients will punch into their Google search. As an example, Glimmer’s keywords might be SEO, digital marketing, blog posts, copywriting and social media. You should also include a location (such as Perth). See what we did there? 😉
